Restaurants
are plentiful in New Zealand, especially in Auckland, Wellington, and
Christchurch. Almost all resort towns offer good quality eateries that
feature various types of cuisine, most notably Chinese, Indian, Thai and
Italian. A lot of restaurants are reasonably priced with the exception
of some hotel restaurants.
Some places display
the sign 'BYO' at the door or glass panel. BYO means 'bring your own'
bottle, and indicate that a restaurant is licensed for the consumption,
though not the sale, of alcohol. At BYO restaurants you will be charged
a small corkage fee for supplying glasses and a corkscrew.
