Farm
The
royal town of Perlis, Arau, is 10km east of Kangar. It has a Royal Palace
and a Royal Mosque, which can easily accommodate up to 7,000 people in
one prayer session. The town, with houses interspersed with clusters of
fruit trees and coconut palms, is worth a visit.
A
small picturesque lake, Tasik Melati is located about 8km north of Kangar.
The lake is shallow and more than 150 sandbar-islands can be seen all
over the lake. Visitors can row sampans to these tiny islands. Elevated
walkways are found over the waters, thus providing vantage viewpoints
and seating for visitors. Recently, the lake was also stocked with fishes.
