The National Institute of Coastal Aquaculture 1 km south of Khao Seng, it was established in 1981 as a research and information center for coastal fishery resources development. Those wishing to gain a deeper insight into the wealth and significant of marine life can arrange for a visit here to its laboratories, hatcheries and fish museum.

Songkhla
Lake extends from its estuary near Son Onn Beach. Thailand's largest body
of inland water at some 80km long and 20km at its widest point, it contains
several islands and 2 bird sanctuaries. Khu Khut Waterfowl Park, a sanctuary
that supports about 140 species of resident and migratory bird, is best
visited in the late afternoon when the birds are at their most active
phase. Nok Nam Thale Noi on the other hand is located at the northernmost
end of the lake near Phatthalung.
The
longest bridge of Thailand, is combined with two bridges on two sides
of Koh Yo - an island - to link up the highway 401 with Koh Yo. For years
before, traffic of the lower southern highway had to cross the lake by
ferries from Songkhla town.
Wat
Pakho, located by the Songkhla Lake in Sathing Pra district is famous
for its highly venerated monk - Luang Por Thuad - who once resided there.
Legend has it that the abbot had turned salt water into fresh water when
his pirate captors were dying of thirst, whereupon he was released out
of gratitude. A statue of Luang Por Thuad, a reclining Buddha image, a
stupa and mural paintings are among Wat Pakho's attractions.
