The Bund is 1.5 kilometers long and extends from Waibaidu Bridge in the north to Jinling Road, East, in the south. On the eastside, you will see the Huangpu River and on the west, you’ll be greeted by 52 tall buildings of various architectural styles. Each was built at a different time but somehow, managed to complement each other in perfect harmony. The Bund is also known as “A Gallery of World Architecture” - a symbol of Shanghai. From the lawn along the riverbank, you can see the statue of Chen Yi who is the first mayor of Shanghai after liberation. Another interesting sight is the electronic-controlled waterfall clock. Of course, not to be missed are the large artistic bas-relief and the River Cruise Square. All these new scenic sights add to the magnificence and splendor of the Bund. There are loads of things to be done at the Bund. There’s something for everyone, regardless of the age group. In the early morning, it is the perfect place for setting-up exercises. In the bright daylight, it is a great scenic spot for sightseeing. At nightfall, it is a rendezvous for lovers. Once the sun sets, the buildings will be lighted up with artistic floodlights that reflects a blaze of colors. The Bund deserves all the praises and admiration from visitors. The crystal palaces standing against a dark sky while setting off the Oriental Pearl TV Tower on the opposite bank is a sight to behold!
