Hong Kong's varied natural environment, along with its superb recreational facilities allows visitors to take part in these activities. Watersports Watersports enthusiasts will be delighted with the array of water-related activities Hong Kong has to offer. From diving to water-skiing and windsurfing, many private and public facilities at beaches and marinas around Hong Kong cater to both local and foreign visitors alike. Among the popular venues are: Deep Water Bay Speed Boat Co. Ltd. Information for renting watersports equipment are available at HKTA (2508 1234) or even at beachside stores and hotels in Stanley and Sai Kung. Tennis Tennis games are easily accessible everywhere in Hong Kong. Public courts are open to visitors, but reservations should be made beforehand to avoid disappointment. The recent Salem Open Tennis Championships were held in Hong Kong, and even top seed Michael Chang had participated in this renowned tournament. Golf The tour also includes packages to The Jockey Club Kau Sai Chau Public Golf Course (2791 3388), which is inexpensive, boasts a stunning island location, and was designed by Gary Player. Other courses are located at Discovery Bay (2987 7273) and at Deep Water Bay (2812 7070). Most golf courses are open to visitors on weekdays only. Rock Climbing / Hiking Approximately 40 percent of Hong Kong are made into 23 country parks, many of which are threaded with well-marked trails. The perfect therapy for city blues would be to hold barbecues and picnics at sites near the waterfalls and streams. Bowen Road, in Hong Kong Island, is a flat-paved path that goes through tropical foliage with glimpses of the city skyline and is excellent for a relaxing walk or jog. Along the way is Lovers' Rock, a nine meter high granite monolith worshipped by those in search of romance.
For ardent cyclists, the Tolo Harbour Cycling Track, which runs from Sha Tin to Tai Po, is worth a try as it is safe, easy, and scenic. Rental bikes are available at the track.
