Hong Kong has a mass amount of museums that feature ancient, historical artifacts and findings, and also famous art curios. A HK$50 visitors pass will allow unlimited entry to four museums, which are run by the Urban Council: Hong Kong Museum of Art, Science Museum, Space Museum, and Museum of History. This pass is available from participating museums and Hong Kong Tourist Association (HKTA) Information centers. Museum of Art and History Museum of Tea Ware, Flagstaff House This home of the commander-in-chief of the British forces is now one of the world's most obscure museums. Flagstaff house, located in Hong Kong Park near Central, is consecrated to a collection of Chinese tea ware. Hong Kong Museum of Art Housed within the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Complex in Tsim Tsa Tsui is an exhibition space that displays Chinese fine arts and antiquities as well as contemporary Hong Kong art. The museum opens from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays to Saturdays, and from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays and public holidays. Admission is HK$10 for adults and HK$5 for children and senior citizens. Hong Kong Museum of History To learn more about the history of Hong Kong, visit this museum, which is located in Hong Kong Park near the Tsim Tsa Tsui shopping area. An extensive series of artifacts and historical relics dating back to 6,000 years are exhibited here. The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays to Saturdays and from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays and public holidays. Tickets are at HK$10 for adults and HK$5 for children and senior citizens. Hong Kong Racing Museum As horse racing is rather popular in Hong Kong, it is no surprise that a museum was established to cater to fans of the sport. Opened in 1996, the museum features the sport's subsequent developments from the 1840s into the high-tech record gambling turnover it is today. Located on the second floor of the Happy Valley Stand of the Happy Valley Racecourse, the museum is admissible to the public at no charge. It is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesdays to Saturdays and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays and public holidays. For inquiries, call 2966 8065. Hong Kong Railway Museum This small picturesque museum is dedicated to Hong Kong's railway history. Situated at the 1913 former Tai Po Market railway station, it opens daily, except for Wednesdays, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free. For inquiries, call 2653 3339. Museum of Science and Space Hong Kong Science Museum Located on the Science Museum Road in Tsim Tsa Tsui East, the Science Museum is a very impressive building in Hong Kong. The building offers hundreds of interactive exhibits in areas of science and technology, such as robotics, virtual reality, and transport. A popular feature is the 20 meter-high energy machine that produces spectacular audiovisual representations of diverse energy forms. It is open from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesdays to Fridays and from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays, and most public holidays. The museum is closed on Mondays. Hong Kong Space Museum Located in a section of the Tsim Tsa Tsui waterfront Cultural Centre Complex, the Space Museum showcases a planetarium and space technology exhibition, which has several screenings in a day. It is open from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesdays to Fridays and from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays, and most public holidays. The museum is closed on Mondays. Admission is HK$10 for adults and HK$5 for children and senior citizens. Tickets for the Space Theatre shows are priced at HK$30 for adults and HK$15 for children and senior citizens.
