Sathorn - Bangkok
Sathorn consists of the northbound Sathorn Nuea Road (in the Bang Rak district) and the southbound Sathon Tai Road (belonging to Sathorn district), separated by Khlong Sathorn (Sathorn Canal). On the southern end of the road is the Taksin Bridge, also commonly known as Sathorn Bridge, crossing the Chao Phraya River and serving as an important transportation link between the Phra Nakhon and Thonburi sides of Bangkok.
The Bangkok Skytrain (BTS) also runs along most part of this road with stations at Surasak and Saphan Taksin. The intersection between Sathorn and Narathiwat Racha Nakarin roads is a new commercial area filled with office buildings. Sathorn is one of Bangkok's 'newest' areas and has seen phenomenal growth over recent years, mostly as a result of its outstanding location close to prime areas like Silom, Siam, the riverside and Sukhumvit Road. It's particularly popular too with an ever-increasing expat community, long-stay visitors and business travellers. |
