Aqualiner River Cruises Visitors will be pleased to know that Osaka is blessed with a few canals on which opportunities abound. Cruises are available and it is a great way to spend the day in the city when the weather is way too hot for walking. Guide tapes that explain the sights are available upon request. Tours depart daily every hour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. On weekends and holidays, there are additional departures at 6 and 7 p.m. To reach the Aqualiner Pier, take the JR Osaka Loop Line (Kanjo-sen) to Osaka-jo Koen station and walk west toward the next bridge. Osaka Aquarium An aquarium well-worth visiting is located in the Osaka Harbor Village complex. The Aquarium's main tank has a variety of sharks, as well as two gigantic whale sharks, which are the aquarium's star attractions. They make an impressive sight, especially when they swim right in front of you. Another section of the complex features eight different ocean levels. Presentations are in both English and Japanese. The aquarium is open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and admission is ¥1950. Take the Chuo subway line to Osaka-ko, which is the last stop, to reach the aquarium. Expo Memorial Park The Memorial Park is the former site for the 1970 World Exposition. It is a popular recreation centre containing the Land and Japanese Garden, the Japan Folk Crafts Museum, the National Museum of International Arts, and the National Museum of Ethnology. The Park is reachable via bus No. 114 or 115 from Senri Chuo station on the Midosuji line.
