Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes

The celebration of this feast on 11 February every year is in commemoration with the appearance of the 'Lady of Lourdes' in France. This holy feast is celebrated on Kanlaon Street in Quezon City and San Jose del Monte in the Bulacan Province. It also involves evening processions.

People Power Days

The month of February gives way to yet another significant celebration for the Filipinos. The People Power Days, held from 22 to 25 February on which 25th is an official holiday, is celebrated in thanksgiving for the end of the Marcos Era, brought by the people in peace. The giant ring road at the Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) in Quezon City was the main scene for the February 1986 People Power Revolution that toppled Ferdinand Marcos, the former President of the Philippines. It was on this road that hundreds of thousands of Filipinos, armed only with prayers, smiles, rosary beads and flowers formed a protective human wall when confronted with tanks and troops of discredited authority.

Since then, the reinstatement of democracy has been an annual event of stage shows, masses, displays, dancing, singing and fireworks. The portion of EDSA between Camp Crame and Aguinaldo and the EDSA memorial on Ortigas Avenue are the celebration's center stage.

Dia de Zamboanga

Dia de Zamboanga on the 26th of February is a festival with a unique combination of ethnic diversity. This festival is organized by and for Muslims and Christians. The activities during this event include cultural offerings, exhibits, and regattas as well as religious ceremonies whereby the old Muslim and Spanish traditions of the city are expressed.
