In an effort
to keep up with needs for the latest trend in dining, the fast-paced urbanization
culture has created a new generation of eating places that are here to
stay. The specialty or theme cafes and bistros or what one would call
novelty restaurants are slowly mushrooming in the country to suit the
needs of the younger generation of yuppies. As a move to preserve the
Filipino culture, most of the novelty restaurants are distinctly Filipino
in style and content, and serves unique local fare.
Some favorites
around the city are Trellis in Quezon City, Café Adriatico in Malate,
Ilustrado in Intramuros and Barasoain in Makati. Eateries like Bistro
sa Remedios and Patio Mequeni, both located in Malate, serve the traditional
and delectably exotic Pampanga cuisine while Café Ysable in San Juan and
Gene's Bistro in Quezon City offer neo-Filipino menus, accentuated with
a creative dash of European origin.
